In the trade 'specialist' can be used to cover all areas of specialism (trade, commercial, industrial, professional, hobbies etc).
'Mainstream ' always refers to the main press. Sometimes the term 'laypress' (meaning 'layman's press)is used for this although not widely

Sorry I misinterpreted your question (more haste less speed!). I should think you could use 'specialist' newsletter v 'mainstream' or 'general' newsletter

You are looking for terms used for newsletters. I've had a look on some English sites and these are the two terms that seem to come up most.

There are 52 500 google hits for "technical newsletters" - only 393 for "general public newsletters" , 180 for "newsletters for the general public" , 142 for "newsletters: general public". Maybe they don't like saying that they are not specialised :-)

I think maybe specialist and general would be the safest, most logical option.
