Yes, we need more context... What kind of document is this, some type of "document unique"? What kind of work environment are we talking about? What are some of the other items on this list? A few things come to mind, like arrêt de travail, arrêt de la production...
philgoddard Aug 18, 2012:
This is not my subject area, and I don't think we have enough context, but could 'arrêt' mean something to counteract the effects of acid?
SafeTex Aug 18, 2012:
References please I'd really like to see some references for Fr Translation suggestion as there is nothing in Google for any of this.
'Acid sans arrêt' is there but parsed to mean 'stomach acid that keeps coming up (sans arrêt)

hope it helps
Peer comment(s):

disagree Daryo : the "flow of acid" could be continuous, not an acid. My understanding of the source text is not that the acid keeps flowing all the time, only that you can't stop it in emergency.

acid hazard, no safety valve

Declined
Just an educated guess, but makes a lot sense to me.

acide sans arrêt / avec arrêt

acid hazard, no safety valve / with safety valve

The only way to stop a flow of liquid in an emergency is a valve.

Warning signs always contain the word "hazard" i.e. "chemical hazard" – depending on the style of the rest of the list of hazards, it could be omitted.
