: Possibly 'full cutoff' (as opposed to 'semi défilé', 'semi-cutoff').

lighting sequence
Rather than lighting for a parade, my first idea!
Things on your TV screen "défilent", when you go through a decoder interface menu.

diffused light or lighting
Diffused light, or soft light, is light that's filtered by something. Sunlight through a sheer curtain is diffused. Light from behind a lampshade is diffused compared to the direct light of a bare bulb. The lampshade softens and scatters the light.

: Not in this instance. For one thing, 'défilé' isn't used in that sense; but also, the text specifically says it has an 'optical diffuser', which implies some kind of beam control, and so will not be producing a very soft light. You're misinterpreting ref.

: Yes! it means the light is 'controlled', or as you have pointed out elsewhere, 'cut off' — not preaing all ove the place.
