French term

Les départs

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng Electrical installation specifications
Hello
This comes from specifications for an electrical installation. I'm not sure about the translation of départs in this context..outgoing currents?
Many thanks for any help

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): cc in nyc

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

outgoing feed

This has come up before, and should be in the glossary if you try a term search.

There are several ways of wording it, but I feel confident this would be an appropriate, natural way of expressing it here.

It means that the wire connections feeding power out of this [thing] need to be grouped together conveniently in one place, instead of muddled up all over the place with other incoming feeds, perhaps...

Herbie has kindly suggested 'feeder', which is certainly a possibility; I think it really depends a lot on the wider context, which we don't have.

To my mind, if these were individual power feeds going out to say lighting, power sockets, lift motors, etc., then I would think of them as 'feeds' (smaller); but if they are thumping great cables big enough to feed a whole building, or a floor of one, for example, then I would certainly consider them as 'feeders' — but this is more a 'feeling' thing than any hard-and-fast technical issue.
Very often, we may find an incoming mains feeder supplying a distribution cabinet, which splits this incoming supply down to individual feeds for different destinations.

Right! Thanks, Anne, that's very important extra context!

Now we know this is a power generation situation, that makes all the difference!

Do we know at what point in the generation process we are here? Is this at PV cell level, or actually at the final converted AC output stage?
Note from asker:
Thanks for explanation!
The document is about the installation of a centrale photovoltaique. I'm only translating a part of it which makes context a bit problematic.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : Quite the wrong term, I'm afraid, in this very specific, technical context.

Outputs

"départ" is sometimes tricky, but output fits here, ie they all come together on this terminal block/strip
