French term

Défrisage

French to English Marketing Cosmetics, Beauty Hair treatments
I'm looking to distinguish between these three terms, in a list of services offered by a beauty salon.

Défrisage

Lissage

Thanks in advance,

Dana

Discussion

Tamara Salvio Dec 15, 2008:
Defrisage and lissage both refer to straightening; defrisage refers more to chemical straightening, while lissage may indicate mechanical ("fer a lisser"). I would agree with Helen on 'relaxing' for 'assouplissement'.
:::::::::: (X) Dec 15, 2008:
All three are terms used in cosmetics
:::::::::: (X) Dec 15, 2008:
OK well Lissage in any case is Smoothing; Assouplissement softening, but don't tell anyone :)

Dana : you'll have to put in two other seperate questions for the other words :) DJ

Firi - [ Traduire cette page ]... bad weave hiding their natural hair, which is often so oversaturated with ' defrissage' (straightening) chemicals
Note from asker:
Yes, I know I have to put the others in two other questions, but unfortunately when doing so, I was informed that I have run out of questions! It's been a busy day! Thanks anyway
Thanks, this is of course what I thought, but I was wondering if there were any more specific accepted terms used in the beauty industry.
Thanks!

agree Helen Shiner : also known as "relaxing" - it might depend on whether the hair in question is Afro-Carribean or not, for instance, since different techniques may be used: http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip086.htm
