Vehicle registration
This vehicle code appears on a Québec car registration, so this is really a question for someone who happens to have a vehicle registered in Québec.
I know that "prome" means passenger (vehicle), and I assume that "AU" stands for automobile (as opposed to van or truck), but the SQ and SP escape me. Reference to number of passengers? Type of automobile (station wagon, sedan, 2-door, 4-door, etc.)?

The second link will take you to a pdf file showing what the certificate actually looks like. In this case, it is for commercial truck drivers.
Even though SQ DOES mean Sûreté du Québec, as Jane points out, this code on car registrations has no link to our provincial police whatsoever. Otherwise, everyone with a valid registration could engage in high-speed car chases! :)

| In fact, I'm dealing with an existing registration for a Ford Escort, so the codes are something that was entered specifically for that vehicle. Do you have any clue what those 3 designations would mean for such a vehicle? |

: There is no place on the web where they reproduce the driver's licenses...I think she should call the permis de conduire people since that is where this appears
