English term
past performance is not guaranteed against future results
English
Bus/Financial
Investment / Securities
the sentence before is: "The risk of loss in trading futures contracts can be substaintial".
I cannnot understand what is not guaranteed, do they mean that future results can affect past performance or that performance in past does not guarantee sucess in future??

: The more standard way of saying this is "past performance does not guarantee future results" OR "future results not guaranteed by past performance". Two alternatives.

"past performance is NO GUARANTEE against future results
OR
"FUTURE performance is not guaranteed against PAST results"
Makes more sense to me :-)
