BEA's single product vs. IBM's integrated solution based on an array of SW products
BEA WebLogic Application Server is their primary product they sell.
On the other hand, IBM sells integrated solutions.
So, "single application server product" can be re-written as "the single product, which is an application server"

application server is a special server designed for running applications. I'm not sure, but I think that such a product is developed to be used at only one application server (not many servers integrated into a computing network).

: previous Qs have shown this text is not well written. Use of "single" here is ambiguous (does it qualify "product" or "app server"?) but I think you're right - BEA's package is for one application server.

very true, the phrase is ambigous, that's why I'm not sure. BEA WebLogic comes to mind, with no necessity to integrate all applications among each other.

: One can install several of these on one computer or have several of them running on many hw servers in a network.//I didn't mention Weblogic Integration. Your explanation is just incorrect: it misrepresents what a "server" is in the context.

we are not speaking about BEA WebLogic Integration here, in particular, It was just my first thought. And this is a product allowing not to integrate many application mutually. + You do speak of BEA WebLogic as a primary product supposed here.

Comparison between BEA and IBM
BEA Systems have products where one application resides on a server; while IBM's products can reside concurrently on one server. Here, perhaps one particular product being co-existent with other softwares is being highlighted.

: What do you mean by "one application resides on a server"? Application server is called so because it runs a multitude of applications.

Your definition of "App Srvr" is correct; however, we are talking about the specific product of BEA that is residing on a server, and its features, vis-a-vis what IBM's battery of softwares and their features. Your posting too reflects the same point.
