English term

DELCO TAX PYMT ONLY

English Bus/Financial ATM screen
It's from one of the ATM screens I'm translating. It's in the USA and I suppose "PYMT" stands for "payment". But I have no idea what does this transaction mean. Can anybody explain?

Full text of the screen:

DELCO TAX PYMT ONLY

It would help immensely if you could at least specify the state...

Dear Terry, Could you translate your answer into Eglish? Unfortunately I don't understand Spanish. :-(

Some ATM s offer the facility of making electronic payments, with information input via the keyboard, & funded by a debit/debit card or some form of account.
I assume this example is dedicated to making tax payments, and that Delco is brandname of the electonic payment service or the company providing the service.

Delco is a large electronics manufacturing company, supplier & supplier of services, according to a number of internet references, which refer to payment and tax payment services

(Having been so confident of \'Delco\', there is one possibility that it would be good to eliminate, and that is that it\'s an abrieviation for \"Deleware County\" (a district ) although I don\'t particularly think it is for payment of taxes to that body)

\'Delco\' is definitely an abrieviation used for Delaware County, as shown by the below local online newspaper from that place, so the possibility does have to be eliminated that the ATM is just for local use there.

My guess is that the company brand name is more likely (but, contrary to what I said above, none of the sites I have found so far mention both it and ATM tax payments to definitely prove that).

Good luck

Correction to my comment to David, below - Delaware County is certainly mentioned as being in Pensylvania (spelling?) - I also said it was mentioned as being in New York (state/city) but this second is probably wrong(confusing internet ref!).

To make what I said above clearer, I meant I believe it is either an ATM tax payment service run(or supplied) by Delco (a company/brandname) or it is for ATM Tax payment to Delco short for Delaware County. I have not yet found any conclusive proof which of those it is :-)

Best wishes to David, Terry and Nikita

It appears that the state of Delaware is comprised of 3 counties, separate to Delco in Penn., and although payment of county-level tax in Delaware state seems less likely than payment to the other Delco, which actually has that name, you might wish to make sure.

I\'ve had another look and I am not certain whether the reference to another Delaware County in New York is correct or not - you can decide (if it helps) it depends on whether \'Binghampton Regional Airport\' is in a Delaware County New York, or whether it is just a weather station somewhere else giving details of the weather in Del.county www.srh.noaa.gov/data/forecasts/NYZ057.php?warnzone=nyz057&...

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you, folks, for trying to help me! Quote (ildiko): "TAX PYMT ONLY" is a no-brainer: tax payment(s) only (I don't think this requires any further explanation to a real translator)" Sure, I believe it's quite plain even for a total beginner. Quote (ildiko): "If you clarified the origin of the text to be translated, that would help immensely..." I don't quite understand what you mean under "the origin of the text". I have explained that it's one of the options on a screen of an ATM working presumably somewhere in the USA. If you mean under "the origin of the text" its author or a company producing the ATM, I have no idea about it. I have got this text from an agency, and you should know how agencies like to explain translators "the origin of the text". :-( And here comes the funniest part of the story. Here's the reply of the PM, which he sent me in response to my inquiry: Delco Tax Payment Only = I would appreciate if you could translate "Tax payment only" and leave Delco in English. I asked the client what Delco stands for and even they did not know. :-) :-) :-)"

only for tax payments

Nikita, I apologise for my mistake into Spanish!

I don't quite understand "Delco" in this case. It might be a company name, or something like that. But YES, it is for tax payments.

DELaware COunty TAX PAYMENTS ONLY

Is this a possibility, based on the brainstorming above? Whereabouts in the USA does this form originate?

Nikita, is there any reference to First Union Bank here? If so, look at the following link, and you have probably got the solution:
http://www.co.delaware.pa.us/treasurer/st.html
It refers to tax payments for Delaware County being accepted electronically by \"E-Zpay\", and also being accepted by that bank.
Peer comment(s):

agree DGK T-I : I agree that tax payments to Del.county v. possible :-) but (forgive me) I intended that to be one of the two possibilities I suggested above, yesterday(sorry jumbled:-)Delaware County(ies?)are mentioned as being in New York(state/city?)and Penn.State :-)

tax payment only - but where?

"TAX PYMT ONLY" is a no-brainer: tax payment(s) only (I don't think this requires any further explanation to a real translator)
Now the problem is with "DELCO" which could stand for many things, from Delaware County (Pennsylvania, USA) through DELCO company (Idaho, USA) to an Indian tribe....
If you clarified the origin of the text to be translated, that would help immensely...
