"Protosingelos" - a higher-rank cleric within The Orthodox Church

Sounds Latin to me. A (higher )degree of clergy:

"His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle, on Sunday 20 January, accompanied by His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilochije of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Grace Bishop Justin of Timok, and Protosingelos Fr. Antonije (Pantelic), will travel to Moscow."

Modification: sounded Latin to me first but probably it’s Greek.

“The Greek word protos means foremost, best, or chief. Since the other Apostles are not given a numerical listing in this reading, it is obvious that the term protos is actually a designation of preeminence. Peter served as spokesman for the Apostles. [See Mark 8:29; John 6:68-69: Acts 2:14-41]”

\"FIRST PATRIARCH\"?...anyone speaks Greek outta there?
Peer comment(s):

agree Tanja Abramovic (X) : This is it. The origin of the word is Greek and the ranks go like this: monk, hierodeacon, hieromonk, protosingelos, archimandrite & finally Patriarch. Bishop is also below the Patriarch.
