Y se ecribe BRAKE!!! 'break' sería un intervalo, o período de descanso, o ruptura, etc;

activa el freno de mano/emergencia.
En méxico así se le conoce al emergency brake, en casi cualquier parte del país (aunque en muchas ocasiones es un pedal y no palanca). Rara vez he escuchado que le digan "palanca de emergencia"
