I have to translate de word "den" in the sentence "The TV will look great on a kitchen counter, as well as in an office, den or bedroom"

agree teju : Yo siempre uso "sala" para la sala formal, y "salita" o "cuarto de estar" para lo que llaman "den" o "family room".

Another word for den in English is "study".

A den is not the same as a living room, it is generally a smaller room for relaxing or reading. A living room is where you receive your visitors whereas a den is where you spend your private time.

agree Sandra Cifuentes Dowling : No es cualquier sala. Es un lugar apartado dentro de una casa para leer, trabajar o estudiar. "Estudio" me parece perfecto.

agree Orestes Robledo : Así lo traducen Oxford, Harper Collins y Larousse. Coincido con la explicación de Sandra. Eso es lo que significa "den" en EEUU y Canadá. "Sala" es lo que en inglés se llama "living room" y una casa o apartamento puede tener los dos.
