Thanks Carl. True, but it's not clear to me that they will be charged. It sounds more like they are victims - I thought about "preventiva" but wasn't convinced by that either (especially given their alleged treatment).

Actually, perhaps prisión preventiva lasts beyond the actual pressing of charges, so it need not be synonymous, but close enough.
