Gracias

Discussion
Most U.S. colleges use the titles 'president' for the chief executive of the college and 'chair of the board of trustees' for the head of the body that legally "owns" the college. The terms "president" and "chancellor" are used for the chief executive of some universities and university systems, depending on the school's own statutes (some state university systems have both presidents of constituent colleges and a chancellor of the overall system, or vice versa).
Finding the equivalent title in each country is always a bit tricky. The head of the university where I studied (in the US) was called a "president", and in fact, there was also a designated "Office of the President" (Oficina del Rector).
The question is heads of universities are called in different wasy in diffeent countries and universities. If you go to an international congress on univerity polity, you will hear different names designated for the head of a university. Ussually it is no recomended to say President=Chancellor=Rector for a simple reason.
The university of Amsterdam has a President (Executive Officer) and a Rector (Academic Officer).
You referred to a "certificado de un título (de una universidad de EE. UU.)".

The heads of American universities are usually not rectors, but are instead presidents or chancellors. It would be thought highly amusing, and an embarrasment for the recipient, if the president of a university were addressed in speech or in writing as "His Excellency John Smith". It is likely that his friends would joke about it to his face -- and his enemies would mock him behind his back.
I would have to say that I also agree with GreenWhiteBlue. The usual title for the head of a university in the United States is president or chancellor.
For example, see here: http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/~ucalhis...nts/index.html
As I said previously, and as Wikipedia also appears to affirm, the usual title for the head of a university in the United States is president or chancellor. To be continued..
