The guest book is not used only in funeral homes. Some exhibitions and museums also maintain guest books wherein visitors are encouraged to record their comments. In addition to it, the guest books are also seen in hotels and the receptionist requests the leaving guests to mention their views about the hotel and its facilities in it so as to convince the future visitors.

A guestbook (also called guest book or visitor log) is a paper or electronic means for a visitor to acknowledge their visitation to a site, physical or web-based, and leave their name, postal or electronic address (if desired), and a comment or note, if desired. Such paper-based ledgers or books are traditional in churches, at weddings, funerals, B&Bs, museums and other private facilities open to the public. Many private homes also maintain guestbooks.
