One of the missions of this brigade was 8th Army nuclear weapons storage. I had a side arm — Top Secret this, Top Secret that. "Aye yi yi. I'm 23 years old! What am 1 doing? Are these people nuts? I don't need this responsibility. Jesus Christ! This is scary. My only claim to fame is that I was a Master Instructor back in Aberdeen, and that was easy. Someone else should have been doing this nuclear weapons thing.

Within the "larky" context of the writing, I think the short, non clumsy style suits best, and it is almost certainly a pistol, I dont remember any of my colleagues in the 70s being issued with anything less, although we weren't in a nuclear base, that's for sure

: Provavelmente, Nick, mas não se pode ter certeza. O contexto não indica época; se se estiver falando da década de 60, quando o uso de revólveres por agentes públicos era comum, sua sugestão estará errada. Melhor não arriscar a inferência ilegítima.
