acho que aqui upper extremity se refere ao braço e não à estremidade superior da mesa...que nem faz sentido..no fundo a hand table, é uma mesa que não é só para a mão, mas sim, e tb para o braço, pelo menos o cotovelo tb lá se apoia, segundo a parte seguinte do seu tecto!!

Acredito que você esteja traduzindo algo relacionado a ortopedia. Os ortopedistas possuem mesas especiais para o exame das mãos e dos pés, onde há um local para colocação do membro correspondente. Também podem ser usadas para cirurgias ortopédicas, para um melhor posicionamento do membro.
