I would like to understand better this sentence. It's about Lovecraft and I'm looking for a good translation into italian, i don't know why but i cannot understand it in a very considerably way. Please help me! Thanks a lot
If any evidence short of Lovecraft speaking from the grave can be put forth to support this rather theory of mine, I believe that a man who was there at the time, reading Lovecraft's stories when they were contemporary, provides it quite nicely.

A grandi linee sono d'accordo con altre risposte simili, ma mi sembra che questa locuzione dia un non so che di ironico, che, in generale, mi sembra trasparire dal resto del testo. Just a suggestion...
