: Der Beschreibung nach ist das auch m. E. ein Strang Wolle (oder Wollstrang), kein Knäuel.

in eine Schlaufe gewundene Wolle
ist wohl, worum es sich hier handelt. Ein Knaeuel ist richtig gewickelt, und ein Strang Wolle ist eine Schlaufe, die dann noch verdreht wird.
