Bonjour,

Je cherche à traduire "skid-steering", la phrase complète étant "The ergonomically designed remote control includes controls for skid-steering", mais j'ai un doute sur la traduction de ce terme.

@ Debora Blake Although the overall context is pretty lacking, this is the only meaning of skid-steering I know (or can envisage) — I don't seriously believe it can have the meaning of 'steering (directing?) a skid' (which might have been applicable in, say, motor racing.

@ Patrick Exactly! Some small diggers with tracks simply change the soeed of the tracks, so the poor thing simply 'slews' round... that's the kind of skid steer I know! This mower sounds more like what you have described.

@ Asker What is the vehicle? A certain type of plant is described as 'skid steer', but I don't know if that's the same thing...

système anti-ripage

Le ripage, c’est quand une voiture a tendance à se déporter toute seule vers la gauche ou vers la droite quand le conducteur laisse pourtant le volant totalement droit. Il y a toujours un peu de ripage, même s’il est imperceptible.

disagree Tony M : This is the exact opposite! It refers to steering by some element of slippage, either using a 'skid' (like a snowmobile), or other methods. / But that has nothing to do with the context here.
