Boat tape with adhesive (circumferential).
Maximum 4.0mm: fill gap with adhesive

Discussion

Michael GREEN Jan 12, 2009:
Emma, I presume you have already understood "woven rovind" to mean "woven roving" (fibreglass) ?
Michael GREEN Jan 12, 2009:
Posting illustrations Isn't is a pity that contributors can't post illustrations directly to the Kudoz question ? Both Radu and Florence have posted links with illustrations, and it would be so much simpler if they were directly visible somewhere on the page ...

merci entièrement d'accord, j'ai oublié le mot ruban
agree Michael GREEN : Afterthought ...It would be churlish of me not to give you an "agree", florence, since your product is a perfectly good alternative to "duct tape" (asker needs to decide whether a "toile" type of tape is referred to here)

ruban adhésif isolant

Peer comment(s):

agree Michael GREEN : "Duct tape" (your illustration below) is used widely on yachts - not just as an insulator (eg protecting standing rigging etc)

agree Michael GREEN : That's what most yachtsmen use as an all-purpose strong tape on boats (Don't know whether it is used in other maritime fields, but logically, yes!)

Interesting ..... ;o)

Florence's comment about "Permacel" rang a few bells, so I did a quick web search. 'Tis just as I thought - "Permacel" is a brand name for (essentially) plastic duct tape. See link below.
Rudi's link calls it "boat tape".
The Plastimo product posted by Florence is an alternative (presumably stronger) using oil cloth as the substrate: see link (product ref is 49325 - "Oil cloth roll, watertight and highly resistant/Toile enduite, imperméable et résistante").
Conclusion : both Rudi and Florence are correct- it just depends what the author had in mind ...

Sorry Radu !!
I don't know why I persist in calling you Rudi - I have a friend called Rudi, but that is no excuse ...
