I have a sneaking suspicion this is one of those cases where an omitted hyphen might have helped comprehension, and it really ought to be 'piece-iridescent' — though quite what that means, I'm not sure; maybe it means that each part is separately irridescent, rather than being all cut from one big piece of iridescent sheet, if you see what I mean? Unless, of course, there's simply a number missing before it, and it ought to read '3-piece ... penguin family'! Probably the more likely scenario!
