Czech term

dopplerometrie

Czech to English Medical Medical (general)
Při přijetí byl podle USG plod eutrofický, normohydramnion, *dopplerometrie* arteria umbilicalis v normě, zjištěno bylo ženské pohlaví plodu.

I'd like to make sure what the right term is in English.

Discussion

Dylan Edwards (asker) Apr 18, 2013:
OK. And I'll leave "velocimetry" aside for now - as far as I know, that's always a laser technique.
Stuart Hoskins Apr 18, 2013:
Not sure about "Doppler ultrasound of the umbilical artery" – it looks Googlelicious (94,000 results), but if you fast forward to the end of the listings the actual number (less repetitions) is just 90. (Probably 91 now.)
Dylan Edwards (asker) Apr 18, 2013:
Perhaps "Doppler scan" or simply "Doppler" is enough.

"Doppler ultrasound of the umbilical artery" seems to come up quite a lot.

I was also wondering whether "dopplerometrie" could mean "Doppler velocimetry" - but the "veloci-" element is absent from the Czech term, so perhaps the Czech term is more general.

These data challenge the concept that SGA fetuses with normal umbilical artery Doppler are “constitutionally small” and otherwise completely normal.

I've found quite a few hits for "Doppler measurement" + "umbilical artery". Maybe that's it?

Not exactly my field, but the links are very straightforward. Moreover, forming Czech (Slovak) words from their English equivalents by adding Czech (lovak) suffix is common practice. So, dopplerometrie was created based on dopplerometry.
