French term

lecture croisée

French to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng perhaps non-technical
No useful context. This is in a list of abbreviations used in a doc which is a specification for electronic equipment that contains a processor. The abbreviation is LC, but isn't actually used anywhere in the document!
Is it interleaved reading of data and addresses on a multiplexed bus, or simply reading a number of documents at the same time?

Non-ProZ.com Jun 8, 2004:
It means... I managed to ask a French engineer working in the project concerned, and it that context it corresponds to the English "peer review", which is effectively one of Dusty's answers.
Non-ProZ.com Jun 7, 2004:
Not needed! The project for which I was translating this document does not require it now! (It was part of an example of requirements management, and they think they know enough without further input.) The work I've done so far may be useful elsewhere, but that doesn't (yet) include "lecture croise". Thank you Gabriel and Dusty for trying to help.
Non-ProZ.com Jun 5, 2004:
My searching... This reference defines it as a face-to-face method of reviewing a translation and doesn't give an English equivalent.

I suspect it has several different meanings and my document doesn't have enough information to decide (and if I get it wrong, it won't really matter!).

COMMENT

A quick Google turned up this reference, which relates 'lecture croisée' to validation testing.

I'll see if I can find any more to give an English translation, but I feel it is at least unlikely to be your 'interleaved data' suggestion --- assuming validation may have some relevance in your context?

And this mention of data cartridges on the Maxell site looks interesting:

Now here\'s the only mention I\'ve come up with so far that actually gives (what seems to be) an English equivalent alongside --- and it\'s not what I\'d have expected!

Best of luck!

Thanks, Gabriel! Hey, we don't do it for the points, do we? :-)
agree Dave Simons : Here's one I just got (automotive): "mettre en place une procédure de conduite de lecture croisée (préparation, objectifs, méthodologie, convocation et ordres du jour, suivi des erreurs identifiées,…). Make of it what you will. Hope it helps someon
