French term

visuel plein pot

French to English Marketing Photography/Imaging (& Graphic Arts)
From a style guide listing which graphic elements need to be included in the various marketing collateral. I've come across "plein pot" meaning full price and full speed, but what does it mean in the context of a visual? I thought it might be full size, but I'm not sure.

Les sliders du site se composent:
- du bloc marque...
- d'un visuel plein pot
- d'un bloc prix...

Thanks in advance for any help!

Merci, tout le monde ! Peter, do you want to post your discussion entry as an answer?
Peter Shortall Sep 5, 2022:
If Emmanuella and Samuël are right, then I think that could be rendered as "full-bleed visual/image", as here (the emphasis is mine):

A full bleed image extends or "bleeds" to the edges of a page so that the image completely covers the entire page and does not show borders or white space around the edges.

It can be used for websites too:
The term “full-bleed” comes from print design. A full-bleed layout includes images and other sections that cover the entire width of the page. As the content “bleeds” to the very edges of the page, there is no padding, margin, or border around full-bleed sections.
Full-bleed designs have become popular on the web with the advent of one-column layouts.

"Full-span" comes to mind too, but "bleed" is a printing/graphics term I've come across in other KudoZ questions such as www.proz.com/kudoz/1415638

Okay, why not! "Full-bleed" seems to be the term of art, "full-span" might be okay if you want something a little less technical.

To add to the examples posted above, here are a couple more to do with websites and sliders. Again, the emphasis is mine.

My first task is to make the full bleed slider work. When I create a Slideshow widget, add it to top A and then set it up so that top A appears on the front page, I can't find a way to make the image full bleed.

Happily, ditching your homepage slider is something you can do right now while you pull together time and attention for a more thorough re-design (...) If your slider used to be a full-bleed image, you might be OK for the time being.

Desktop Display – Specify how the banner slides/images should display on the desktop.

Full Bleed – Images will cover the entire banner width and height. Specify the banner height if this option is selected.

In this example of "full span image", there are two images which clearly show what the writer means - an image surrounded by a white border, and then the same image without the border.

Full span image

What is the possibility of going from this:

And lastly, here's an EN-FR KudoZ question about "full bleed image" where one of the answerers (Alain) gave the explanation "image pleine page" in the body of his answer:

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks, Peter. Full-bleed visual worked fine in my context."
