German term

Zwangsverdrahtung

German to English Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng CAD
"Zwangsverdrahtung: Um eine Normalverbindung (T-Verbindung) in eine Zwangsverbindung zu ändern, gibt es zwei Befehle in der Symbolleiste „Verbindungen“:"+
This is a program manual
I am no expert on this, as far as I can see it is connected to "destination wiring" but it may not be the same thing(?). I have seen people translate it as forced or obligatory wiring but I don't see any usage in English language websites. So - is it actually "destination wiring"?

Discussion

philgoddard Nov 6, 2020:
I don't see how it could be "destination wiring".
Teresa Finn (asker) Nov 6, 2020:
The reason I mentioned destination wiring As you might see from the link I placed earlier (https://www.benzinfo.de/42-0-CAD-Steuerungs-Prozesstechnik.h... there (and in a number of other places I looked online) it is discussed in German as being equivalent, that is Zielverdrahtung (Zwangsverdrahtung) in a way which implies that they are considered to be related subjects. However, though I came across 'destination wiring' in English language texts, I did not find any use of required/forced etc for wiring, hence I assume it's not used.

target wiring (forced wiring)

In order to understand the terms I invite you the look at the figures in the links. It deals with gthe graphical representation of connections in schematic wiring diagrams. It differs from previous representations by a diagonal connection.

Precondition for applying this new functionality is the use of forced connection symbols: Symbols for forced connections are an approach offered by EB to specify the actually intended wiring and connectivity.

Possibility 1
1. Check the target wiring in the multi-line schematic, meaning the use of the connection symbols (T-nodes, angles, etc.), and correct it if necessary.

The user copies parts of the FB-wiring from one device to another. It may happen that not all copied lines are inserted in the target wiring. Those are lines, which are connected to a variable in the source-wiring. (CR 39519)

Another highlight: the additional 'Netbased Wiring' model, an exciting approach to wiring. In EPLAN Electric P8 you will be able to define detailed connections within a network at the database level, irrespective of the graphical representation. In the schematic, logical point wiring instead of target wiring will be shown.

• With target specification: This default means, for example, that a T-node is drawn as target wiring. This T-node is also first placed and can then subsequently be changed to point wiring or a different target.

The term "destination wiring" is also used as synonym:

Destination wiring
The wiring of the schematic is done through destination wiring. On placing the elements, their pins are automatically connected to the lines, and destination wiring elements are inserted. In order to use this function optimally, snap (F5 key) and orthogonal drawing mode (F6 key) should be turned on so that the elements are placed within the grid.
The following destination wiring elements are available:
•Angle
•T-pieces
•Jumper
•Cross
•Arrows (termination point symbols)

As described elsewhere in this section, all wires are identified with marked heat shrink sleeves. This is a standard practice in industry and makes sense to carry over into the RV9A wiring system. I use a “destination” wiring scheme and wire number on each wire tag. When you look at the conductor the tags gives a short text description of where it is going and a wire number which is listed on my schematic for that system (or sub-system). As I build and wire, I “As-build” my schematics tyo make sure they accurately reflect what was actually done. Five years from now, I will have totally forgotten what I did so good reference documents are essential.

I also checked "constrained connection" About 8.880 results (0,59 seconds), but saw no relevant link on the first pages (mostly extended by "manager" or similar.

What about "constrained wiring"? About 26.100 results (0,41 seconds)

It also offers disconnect and knife disconnect terminal blocks with and without function shafts to enable the clear separation of signal currents in space-constrained applications.

Comments: No wiring diagram, but description of terminals or constrained space.
Conclusion: I should add "destination wiring" to my proposal, ordered by frequency (as not yet standardised):

constrained connection

Note from asker:
There's not much context in the text since it's primarily a manual about the program so it's (I guess) about mapping a particular configuration in the program. I came across such entries online as this and they sound like a similar topic https://www.benzinfo.de/42-0-CAD-Steuerungs-Prozesstechnik.html

neutral philgoddard : Your references are from completely different fields - this is about computer-aided design of wiring diagrams - though your term may still work in this context.
