French term

traversée à partie intérieure courte [URGENT!]

French to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation High-voltage bushings
I have this term in a set of specifications for HV bushings in power generation / transmission, etc.

It seems to be covered in NF C 52-062, of which according to AFNOR there is no international equivalent, and which sadly I can't find accessible on line.

I have found mentions of 'long-rod' bushings, so I would assume this is the opposite, a 'short-rod' bushing; the only problem is, I can't find any confirmation of this term at all! I'm beginning to suspect that the 'short' here simply opposes 'longer than usual', and so is just 'normal', and no-one but the French bother to give it a special name!

bushings with short oil ends

NF C52-062 Septembre 1993

(Unfortunately the text ends with par. 4.4.4.

Fig. 1 shows an example of a completely immersed bushing of this kind. Transformer bushings where only the bottom end enters the oil are better from the thermal aspect. If this section is made short and steps are taken to prevent the heat from traveling

:
Concerning the short oil ends, it is true to say that in an oil-impregnated paper bushing the edges of the condenser layers are already in contact with oil and therefore offer the same advantages as the conical ends of a resin-bonded paper bushing. However, the difficulties lie in finding a short end porcelain which will hold along its surfaces in oil the breakdown voltages indicated in curve 2 of Fig. 2.

Fig. 4 shows a transformer bushing for a system voltage of 1050 kV which, in addition to withstanding the power-frequency voltage of 1200 kV (rms, 1 minute), was also subjected to full-wave standard impulses of 3050 kV and to chopped waves of 3500 kV.

crossed at short interior part

From the given information I understand it's about oil, transmissions and paper soaked in a resin, but 'traversée' means that something has crossed at a short interior part.

It can also mean 'traveled at short interior part'.
Note from asker:
Thanks for trying to help, but this is the sort of question that requires actual specialist technical knowledge of the field.

disagree AllegroTrans : the asker is not looking for a word by word translation; this a technical TERM not dictionary lookup (unless maybe in a specialist engineering dictionary)

disagree Schtroumpf : La "traversée" est bien un substantif et non pas un participe !!
