Italian term

HBVBPC

Italian to English Medical Medical (general) blood tests - virology
This is an entry in a list of viral blood tests -- the table is titled Virologia / Valori di Riferimento ( the list includes HCV, HbsAg, HbcAB-IgM and others).

What is this? I understand the HBV part -- Hepatitis B Virus -- but what is this other BPC? I find that BPC separately = Blood Platelet Count, but I have no idea whether this applies here.

(under the Valori di Riferimento, we have levels of 0 IU/mL, 1,7x10^8 IU/mL)

Thanks for helping me figure this one out.

Hi Anne,

Thank you for your comment. I'm just not sure what this is, and left it untranslated.
Anne Schulz Nov 9, 2017:
Based on the units/values, it is viral load (previously measured in DNA copies per ml, now usually in IU/ml). Not sure how to fit BPC here; "base pair count" exists, but it is viral copies, not nucleotide base pairs which are counted for viral load, AFAIK.

hepatitis B virus (HBV) basic core promotor (BCP) [typo?]

Ciao Joseph,

could it be a typo for BCP?

[Relationship between hot spot mutation in hepatitis B virus basic core promotor and HBeAg status].

Note from asker:
Ciao Gilberto, thanks for the suggestion. It did not seem to me to be a typo, so I just left it as an unknown acronym in the translation.
