In that case, I don't know, except that chair probably is not профессор. It's probably something more like профессорство.

Think of it like this: Case gave the university the money for an I.C. Case Distinguished Chair, or someone gave the money to honor Case. As a result, the university can pay someone like McEvoy to OCCUPY the Distinguiished Chair. McEvoy is not necessarily distinguished and he is not a Председатель. He is a профессор, the I.C. Case Distinguished Chair профессор. I don't know how to translate chair but it's not Chairman/Председатель. It means, McEvoy's office or position, or the money or the endowment that pays McEvoy's salary. Maybe Cиденье Кейс or Место Кейс.
