A suspended ceiling is often a suitable solution, though if the thermal mass of the soffit needs to be exposed, rafts or "baffles" can be employed.

I believe in this sense it really need to be 'baffle', since it's rôle is not necessarily exactly that of a 'déflecteur' — judging from what they are describing, I suspect it is more of a sound absorber. Perhaps your wider context will go on to explain more what these are intended to achieve?

: Oui, ils absorbent le son, mais je pense qu'il faut le préciser, d'autres types de panneaux absorbent la lumière, l'humidité, etc...
