Sounds to me like the bag-drop test.
Here's an example of its use in the furniture business, but I've also heard it used in other sectors.
It basically refers to testing the item's behavior when subject to impact.
The first site even has a picture!
"Pictures from left to right: The Arm Stress Test, The Leg Stress Test, The Bag Drop Test, The Steam Endurance Test."
