Try as I may, I can't work out the subtleties of this word (and the related "äskning") as opposed to the more common words in my document such as 'loan', 'subvention' etc.
The document is confidential so excuse me for not providing specific examples.

In my experience this is a formal way of asking, as in 'Please sir may I have some more...'
More 'request' if you're in a private/company context; can be 'petition' in a government/public funding context.

BTW, in shop retailing and export, I have 'requisitioned' funds, in banking sought 'funding' and, at a City of London law firm all of 40 years, did 'bespeak office copy entries' of land & bankruptcy searches.
