Italian term

EAC 02

Italian to English Medical Medical (general) hospital departments
This is from the heading of a patient's discharge report:

Dipartimento di Emergenza - Accettazione
Unità Operativa Complessa - EAC 02
Medicina d'Urgenza

(followed by the patient's report)

Does anyone happen to know what EAC means in this context (and the English translation)? I figured it's some internal abbreviation and was going to let it go, but then was asked to go the extra mile and see if I can satisfy a reviewer who is even more perfectionistic than I am :)

Specifically, this report comes from the Umberto I Policlinico di Roma.

Thank you for any little light you can shed on this.

Discussion

Joseph Tein (asker) Nov 26, 2015:
érti? Sorry about the rudeness ... blame it on Google translate! Since I don't know any Hungarian (I can only write and pronounce köszönöm) I just put in what I found there.

nagyon sajnálom ... I hope Google gave me the correct version.

And the patient was hospitalized and treated for Atrial Fibrillation

Joseph Tein (asker) Nov 26, 2015:
? - No Hi Erzsébet. Thank you for all the suggestions and for finding all of these possible meanings of the acronym. I don't understand your question here, but in this case No, it can't be endoarteriectomia carotidea because of where the acronym appears in the report. It's in the section that talks about where the treatment is provided, in this place it can't mean a surgical procedure. érti?
Joseph Tein (asker) Nov 26, 2015:
another instance? I keep searching for possible meanings of this. I found another online entry that may be the same thing; however, there is no explanation of the acronym:

“Valutazione delle variazioni degli indici clini metrici in pazienti con A.R. precoce, gestiti nell’ambito della EAC."

Actually , it fits perfectly, if you look closely at the Sapienza website. In any event, I'm glad to be of help. Thanks for the points.

oops ... meant to say "not" sure ...
Hi again. I'm more convinced now that this is probably it, although I still wonder why I can' find anything with the 02 in this context (the report says "EAC 02") and also why they would insert this little line between Dipartimento di Emergenza - Accettazione, and Medicina d'Urgenza. Anyway, it's delivered and I'm on to new linguistic adventures, and thanks again. And hope your health is good :)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Ciao Cedric, once again. I'm no sure that this fits in my translation (we left it as "unknown acronym") but this is still a good, valid expansion, so we'll use it here and I'm adding it to Acromed. Thank you."

Emergency Action Center 02

Ammetto che mi sembra strano sia utilizzato un acronimo inglese però avrebbe senso, soprattutto se si tratta di un ospedale con forte afflusso di stranieri

Sarebbe il centro operativo di emergenza
