Italian term

esiti pleuroplastici

Italian to English Medical Medical (general) chest X-ray
This is in an X-ray report:

"Si segnalano molteplici noduli simil calcifici a livello dei polmoni nelle porzioni in esame associati ad *esiti pleuroplastici* apicali, reperti da correlare con dati anamnestici e confrontare a eventuali esami precedenti."

How do we say "esiti pleuroplastici" in English?

Thanks again.

(and does the word "simil" in the first line make sense here, or is it a typo? Comments on this would be helpful.)

Found online:

" I "processi pleuroplastici" (terminologia desueta) indicano la presenza di un processo per lo più infiammatorio (ma non solo), in atto oppure già guarito, a livello dei foglietti pleurici diaframmatico e parietale (a volte sono descritti come ispessimenti, mammellonature, nodularità). "

pleuroplastico It's really this word that has me confused. I can't find anything online that seems close to it.

Analyzing the word, we have "pleuro" (relating to the pleura of the lungs) and "plastic" which is "pertaining to formation, growing, developing"

Still doesn't help me find the term in English. I look forward to your suggestions.

(radiological) findings of pleural thickening

An educated guess, actually.

It would be appropriate to read 'esiti' here as 'findings', instead of 'results' or 'outcome'.

The '-plastici' part of the ST is suggestive of '-plasia', as in neoplasia --> new growth, new formation. So, if the pleura have indeed "grown", they would appear thicker than usual. Ergo, we have here the idea of pleural thickening.

And since it's an x-ray report, I suggest that you add 'radiological' to 'findings'.

pleuroplastici apicali --> apical pleural thickening.

HTH.

Pleuroplastic development

The scleridal concretions in the pericarp ofSolanum species evolve immediately before anthesis. In cross sections to this date radial and centrifugal directed rows of cells are apparent. ** Pleuroplastic development ** and centripetal ordered radial rows of cells evidendly are subordinated. The ontogenetic facts support the assumption, to consider the scleridal concretions as rudiments of drupaceous fruits.
During ripening of fruits in the scleridal grana fusions of cells occur similar o the scleridal tissue in the nutlets ofNolana prostrata.
Note from asker:
Ciao Enrica. Thank you for your comment, first. However, this answer does not help me. Note that your example text is about fruit, and my document is about X-ray findings in human lungs. Not the same thing. I looked for any examples using the word "pleuroplastic" in the context of medicine and could not find anything, and that is why I posted the question here.

The chief varieties of pleurisy are classified according to the variety of the effusion, should effusion take place. (I) Some pleurisies do not reach the stage of effusion, the inflammation terminating in the exudation of lymph. This is termed dry pleurisy. (2) Fibrinous or plastic pleurisy. In this variety the pleura is covered by a thick layer of granular, fibrinous material. Fibrinous pleurisy is usually secondary to acute diseases of the lung such as pneumonia, cancer, abscess or tuberculosis. (3) Sero-fibrinous pleurisy.
