Italian term

Satigienica

Italian to English Other Materials (Plastics, Ceramics, etc.) Technical data sheet for wall paints
Hi,

I am translating a technical data sheet for a wall paint. Among the list of the paint's qualities, there is the word 'Satigienica'. There's no other context as such, the other qualities are: 'high coverage' and 'mould resistant'.

Does anyone know what 'satigienica' is?

Thank you,

Salma

I think that it is a coinage referring to both 'satin' and 'hygienic'. So, it has a satin finish and antibacterial properties. Thanks to everyone for their comments.

All the hits appear to come from one company, which suggests that it's either a coinage or a typo. Possibly something to do with igienica?

neutral philgoddard : Maybe, but it's not really supported by your references - and what does it mean anyway?

I assume that satigenica is the combination of sanitaria e igienica. The reference support the fact that sanitary paint does exist.

sanitized

This is the term we used when we made plastics sheets incorporating bacteria/mould (and other critters) killing chemicals. I believe the word to be in wide use, but it might be as old as myself by now... HTH
