Italian term
nodo di bolina
Italian to English
Other
Kite making
Different kinds of knots used in making kites. The problem is that "bowline" is given for the above, but it is also given for "gassa a grisella" (also found "ratline" for this" and "gassa d'amante". There are pictures of the knots, and they are all different. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

sling knot
many use "nodo di bolina" for "gassa d'amante", which is not right on a sailboat, however the right translation for "gassa d'amante" is bowline

Comment: "Both the answers I received were helpful, and it is a pity that I cannot award points to you both. I had to toss a coin, in fact. I have forwarded both replies to my client. Still, if you have any more ideas on "gassa di grisella" ..... that would be wonderful!"

bowline
I think bowline is correct. Nodo di bolina is also known as Gassa d'amante as you can see here:
http://www.baden-powell.it/tecnica/nodi.htm
here you can see a picture of a bowline which looks exactly the same of a nodo di bolina.
