Note from asker:
Certainly not local. Regional might work. Thanks! |

Comment: "This was the best choice in the context, even though Nikki's suggestion could have worked elsewhere. Thank you everyone for your contributions."

The company is gradually moving towards local sourcing / adopting a local sourcing policy. Though I Imagine (market ) 'positioning' needs to be said.

French term (edited):
sur le positionnement terroir
as a local/regional product
You have some choice for "terroir" but I admit that I find "positionnement" harder to pitch here. So for "terroir", local, regional and so on seem to be a good fit. Not mad about anything like "category" or variations upon "position-" for "positionnement though.
You might like to avoid it altogether and free yourself from the "sur le positionnement terroir" and just be more straightforward with "as a local/regional product".

Note from asker:
Much as I like this solution, it doesn't work here, since XXXX is the name of the company. It would be like saying Dale Farm (a dairy company in N. Ireland) developed gradually as a regional product. I'm sticking to positioning. |

Yes, I do know what positionnement is. I am also aware of the usual ways of translating terroir. |

It's ridiculous to disagree with reference comments. Are you saying this word is not already in the glossary?
|
|
neutral |
Jane F
: The word may already be in the glossary, but not in this particular context. Hence the question.

It's exactly the same context. The answer I cited gives "regional cuisine/local produce".

Great document showing that it's not as easy as it sounds. That's why I put it in 'Marketing'. Thank you! |
