With you on that one. Neverless those links I provided below are dealing with "calotte stamped" foils used for insulation/absorber purposes in the automotive sector where the application makes sense imho.. just have a look. Maybe you´ll find something likewise on US or UK sites .

@ thefastshow The sites I have found refer to embossing on 'cups' (thimbles, etc.) or spherical objects (balls) - not to the pattern itself. That is why A STATEMENT FROM THE ASKER WOULD BE VERY ADVANTAGEOUS as to how this term is used in the text he is translating!

Richard I was well aware of the fact. That´s why I used "translation of.." in my text. I just wanted to provide you with some examples of the product so you may recognize or come up with a solution yourself. Yes Kalotte refers to the shape of the embossing pattern also called ball or cup pattern in English if I´m not too far off. See my Wiki link with the definition of Kalotte. Could well be that for once in a life time Germans have come up with an expression for something - it´ll be good to check for native versions though. Otherwise I´m inclined to stay with the "quite widespread" use of "calotte stamping" as displayed on those German manufacturer´s sites.

@ thefastshow Again these are German sites with translated texts. Native site's don't seem to exist. Does the 'Kalotten' part refer to the shape of the part being embossed or the embossing pattern? What we really need is more context from the asker!

Another common translation for Kalottenprägung is calotte stamping. Examples can be seen here: http://www.culimeta-automotive.de/en/product-groups/heat-shi... and here: http://www.braunmetall.de/index.php?id=folien&L=2 in a manual production process this used to be called cup&ball embossing. Anyway if you know what those foils displayed in those links above are called feel free to contribute.

More context I have serious doubts about the answers to date - although I do not have any to propose myself. Perhaps if we had more context we could come up with something. What sort of translation is it? Where is this work being done (which part of the car)? What is being done? Could you give us the whole paragraph surrounding the term you're looking for?
