According to http://www.hugogold.com/bohemia/janovicich.pdf it should read "pendantir" (obviously French origin). The only architectural term that comes close is pendentive. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pendentive

: I'd say it's a slightly "corrupted" version of a word that has more than one spelling in Czech anyway.

My architecture/building dictionary gives: pendantiv: pendentive.
The French word, by the way, is pendentif.
