elemental clalcium

This means calcium that is not combined with any other element in a chemical compound, i.e. he means Ca and not CaCO3, and not CaO, for example. However it seems a bit odd to prescribe elemental calcium, because I don't think it can be absorbed by the digestive system, but I may err on that score.
Peer comment(s):

agree Charles Davis : (Typo: "calcium" for "clalcium".) I suspect that this signifies a quantity of a calcium compound equivalent to 109 mg of elemental calcium; that quantity will vary according to whether calcium carbonate or calcium citrate is taken, for example.
