Russian term

самоотвод

Russian to English Other Law (general)
Context - procedure to be followed in the event of "самоотвод" of members of a court presidium.

I just want to check that this is self-recusal, i.e. the members withdraw themselves from a case. I am assuming that отвод is when they are recused/told to withdraw.

Many thanks!

Yes, Rachel! Say, when the judge recuses himself, because he is the brother-in-law of the defendant.Still, this "self-blink-blink" sounds suspicious. India, for example, is an English speaking country, they like to put something new on the net.

Noun: self-recusal

I learn something new every day. Google offers multiple examples. Here is one: [email protected]/msg02399.html" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/...

Very good point. I agree.
Rachel Douglas Feb 13, 2010:
to recuse oneself I believe this action sounds more natural in English if expressed with a verb: "... in case members of the court recuse themselves."
Angela Greenfield Feb 13, 2010:
voluntary or self-recusal you are absolutely right
Igor Blinov Feb 13, 2010:
Without experience in court affairs I wander if this could be a "voluntary withdrawal" ?
Anton Konashenok Feb 13, 2010:
Yes, you are right

"self-refusal" sounds more than strange.
