Portuguese term

incubando-se em banho-maria a 45,5° por 24 horas

Portuguese to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general) microbiological analysis
Tomaram-se todos os tubos LST com produção de gás e transferiu-se uma alçada de cada cultura para tubos de Caldo E.coli incubando-se em banho-maria a 45,5° por 24 horas

Outra dúvida é em relação ao uso dos termos:" tomaram-se", "transferiu-se"... Geralmente eu traduzo usando a voz passiva: "... were taken","...were forwarded".

incubating in hot water bath at 45.5 degrees for 24 hours

Eu diria assim

agree Evans (X) : or just "in a water bath", the hot is redundant here, especially as the temperature is given. It woud be a bain-marie in a culinary context, but in a chemistry context it's just a "water bath"

incubating in a bain-marie at 45,5° for 24 hours

The E.coli will be able to develop at this temperature if incubated for 24 hours.

agree Evans (X) : Yes, bain-marie is sometimes used in a chemistry context, although I think water bath is more common. Bain-marie would definitely be used in a culinary context. See my note above.

agree Christine Morgan : Agree it is found more often in culinary context but is used
