In the South Africa Region, we had a mixed set of results. XXX *continued to build on the turn
around* that it started during the previous quarter by producing 111koz and beating its guidance by
8%. YYY also had a very good quarter, continuing the build-up to its 300koz target for F2010, by improving its production by 25% to 65koz and beating its guidance by 6%. Driefontein and Kloof, however, had a very difficult quarter after a slow start-up early in the quarter, caused by the spill-over effects of safety stoppages late in the June quarter. Driefontein’s production declined by 11% to 190koz which was 6% below guidance, while Kloof’ production was marginally up to 161koz, but still 4% below guidance.
