Papier auf Gewebe

German to English Law/Patents Construction / Civil Engineering construction drawings / blueprints
This is a requirement for construction drawings for built structures: "die Bauzeichnungen müssen auf Papier auf Gewebe bestehen"

From the NRW Verordnung über bautechnische Prüfungen, Sec. 20, which is entitled "Bauvorlagen für die Ausführungsgenehmigung Fliegender Bauten" and so is concerned with the standards for construction drawings related to temporary structures. It is noted elsewhere in the text that documents should be on archival paper, so I'm not sure if this means something different.

agree Lancashireman : I was looking with interest at Herr Gleim’s very plausible case for ‘paper-backed fabrics’ but then spotted his added note that it might ‘umgekehrt gehen’. With that assurance, I have decided to plump for your ‘fabric-backed paper’ option. Regards. AJS

Now, any photo or design can be printed directly onto silk fabric using a computer and Ink Jet Printer, or Ink Jet Copier. Results vary from printer to printer and ink to ink, and with different print settings, so plan on doing some tests!
