Spanish term

el derecho de regreso en seguros

Spanish to English Bus/Financial Insurance
This is a report about whether a telecomms company or its hardware suppliers are at fault for an internet outage...

Judging by the Google results thrown up, I think this must be a specialist insurance term...

"Por tanto, ante las dudas que todavía rodean el análisis relativo a la efectiva responsabilidad del proveedor y/o responsabilidades compartidas de las dos empresas, recomendamos que los aseguradores estudien la conveniencia de designar un despacho especializado en el derecho de regreso en seguros, para que analice y pondere las dudas que todavía persisten"

Many thanks

right of recourse in insurance

As suggested by Neil C. in the agree to the other answer and I believe to be the right answer. Also it is IN not OF the insurance.

cf. Regress in SV and Regreß(linien) in DE which, in banking, cannot be rendered as recovery, but as recourse (lines).

As I try to explain, just about every week, a right of recourse means an ins. co., after paying up on a claim on the policyholder's behalf, has a recourse against the wrongdoer who has caused the accident. It may not be the policholder.

See also the UK case of Lister vs. Romford Ice and Cold Storage Co. (1957) where a father employed by the refrigeration co. was accidentally run over, at work, by the son driving a fork-lift truck. The ins. co. paid up on the employer's ins. policy and exercised a right of recourse e.g sued the son for recovery of the ins. moneys.
Example sentence:

right of recourse provision - A provision in a fiduciary liability policy giving an insurer the right to subrogate (ie, collect monies from a party ...

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks everyone foir your help. It was hard to give points here because both Tom and Liz's terms Google well. In the end, Tom's specialisation in the field and his irmi reference tipped the balance. Much appreciated everyone"
