Discussion

Michael Powers (PhD) (asker) Jan 21, 2009:
repetition I repeated what looks like a basic mistake verbatim - el auto de el auto ... and this same pattern is repeated several times. I am not convinced that this must be a standard form and the second "el auto" plus what followed was inserted, hence the repetition and incorrect grammar "de el ..."
RichardDeegan Jan 20, 2009:
Sure looks like a typo (accidental repetition), Mike, especially with the "de el".

[opposition was filed against] the order/injunction/restraint of May 3.....

your phrase should read "contra el auto de tres de mayo". Richard is right, this is an obvious typo.

Hi Mike. Think there might be a couple of issues here.
1. It's possible there might be a typo ("el auto de el auto"), and perhaps it was meant to read :..."Contra el auto de tres de mayo..."

2. In order to translate into English, it might be better to change the sentence structure:

(Opposition was formulated by ABC, XJS, RLN,etc.) "against the decree/writ/court order of May 3rd,..."

Saludos. :))
