frizz (frizzy hair)
Frizz is a condition where very small bits of hair shift away from the cuticle and hair shaft resulting in a fuzzy effect.
A previous translation sent by the client has "Spliss," but that is just as split ends, as far as I know. Some research confirms that. In another old translation they are talking about "widerspenstiges Haar," but that does not fit either.
So, does anyone know what this "frizz" is called in German? Or could I get away with "Spliss" anyway?

Most references on websites and in documents use this term to describe this condition (frizz) because 'split ends'/Spliss so often is the real the cause behind the 'frizzy hair' appearance.

I have always understood from my research that the 'splitting' can take place anywhere along the hair shaft...take a look at the second photo for a better visual aid.
(I had to correct myself as well : ) So, yes...I agree, it's past bedtime!)
| Thanks. But the problem is that "Spiss" is at the ends only, while "frizz" (as defined by the client) affects the whole hair, starting at the root. But there may not be a better choice out there. :( |
