Parece que el texto en español es un poco antiguo. Para referirse a la deformación mecánica plástica, existe el término dúctil (ductile) que significa eso precisamente, una deformación plástica permanente (pliegues, cabalgaduras, esquistosidad, cabalgaduras, fallas inversas, replegamiento) de origen mecánico por supuesto. El término opuesto sería frágil, cuando las rocas no se deforman pero muestran tectonismo, como es el caso de las fallas normales o de gravedad, y las fallas cecorrimiento horizontal.
La terminología viene bien explicada en el libro Structural Geology of Rocks and Regions, de George H. Davis (Univ de Arizona) y pñuedes estar seguro de que si pones ductile, estás hablando justamente de una deformación mecánica plástica...
