Definition from
American University of Beirut:
A small representation of a picture on a Web page, usually containing a hyperlink to a full-size version of the graphic. Thumbnails are used to load pages rich in graphics or pictures more quickly in a Web browser.
Example sentences:
Thumbnails can be created in any existing folder or a new folder, and you can identify them clearly by adding a prefix or suffix to their filename. (Easy Thumbnails)
Suppose you want to have a bunch of thumbnail images that link to larger versions of the images - a fairly common type of web page. (REAL WORKD STYLE)
Ideally, you would want your thumbnail images to be considerably smaller than your main images. If your images are too large, it defeats the purpose of having a quick-loading preview of all the images. (kIRUPA.COM)

Definition from
e-Words:
Example sentences:
サムネイルは、たくさんの画像を一覧で表示して内容を確認する時などに使います。 (Microsoft サポート オンライン )
サムネイル(thumbnail)とは、画像や印刷物ページなどを表示する際に視認性を高めるために縮小させた見本のこと。親指(thumb)の爪(nail)のように小さく簡潔であるという意味から来ている。 (Wikipedia)

get copied again and again (this ST is a typical content for Articles of Association/Incorporation); rarely anyone bothers to check if all the clauses still make sense, so you end up with "archaeological layers" of terms no one is using any longer, as is this one. All references I could find about concrete "joint purse arrangement" are historical one - no one seems to be using this term any longer nowadays! (Except when copying again and again very old formulation for clauses in Articles of Association!) |
