UTSS

Spanish to English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
Hi, this is part of a personal letter. It is Latin American, but I'm afraid I don't know which country.

Here is a bit of context:

UTSS ESTE TU MAILCITO ME ASUSTA GORDIS SUENA COMO A DESPEDIDA

Hi Sylvina, thanks for responding. it appears in the middle of the letter at the start of a sentence. The entire letter is in capitals, so I can't really say whether it should appear in capitals or not. It seems likely that it is an interjection as suggested by Rodrigo, but I just wasn't sure how to translate it.
Sylvina Aug 14, 2008:
Hola: Considering "GORDIS" I'm almost sure that it is from Argentina. Please give me more details, for example in which part of the letter it appears, and if it is in block letters as you posted here. Thank you!

UTSS

Si buscas en Google verás que tanto en español como en inglés figura esta sigla, como comienzo de mensaje. Por lo tanto, o se traduce.

Definitivamente no se trata de una interjección ni exclamación, sino que identifica un mensaje "saliente" como desde un determinado punto, y siempre se da en los intercambios P2P, a veces como título de un mensaje y no como parte integrante del texto.

Thanks Richard. IMHO, it would be akin to attempt translating"http". Same case.

uh-uh, oh-oh

a kind of exclamation, like "oh dear"?

could it be GORDIS's screen name?

Sounds more like an email or web posting than an actual letter

perhaps you could leave it like that (utts)and add a translator's note explaining the meaning??????????
Example sentence:

utss, el día de hoy si va a ser muy largo después de la desvelada de ayer, me caigo de sueño

utss...hace rato que no paso por aqui...
